And gone in most people's minds, too, I suspect. It's a long time
until 31 October and Brexit will slumber under a rock all summer.
Journalists are fed up of covering it. The general public is fed up of
listening about it. What might happen is for the country to wake up
again in late September and realise that the nightmare is due to start
up again. For months there was peace and quiet. Family rifts as summer
holidays were enjoyed away from Brexit healed somewhat. And suddenly,
in September, maybe at the start of October, people will be confronted
with it all over again. Maybe the people will then exclaim: "We don't
want Brexit any more. We just want peace and quiet and be allowed to
get on with out lives."

Aren't the MPs all on their hols now? When they come back, all the shit
will no doubt kick off again. Enjoy the peace and calm while you can,
instead of reminding us that it's waiting in the long grass :-)

Brexstremists have a habit of being triggered by something, jumping up,
getting furious, being told the facts, arguing pointlessly and then going
quiet

I imagine this pattern of volatile reaction will persist. Perhaps for
years.

You wish. It won't happen.

You wish it won't happen. It will.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. OK, there have been two very big
news stories recently in Julian Assange & Notre Dame that have shoved it
off the headlines but even so it hardly seems to get a mention now. All
I know is that the cross-party talks are still continuing but that's
about it.

The danger is of course we don't properly use this extension (enough
time for a general election and/or referendum) and we end up
sleepwalking our way towards the deadline with no sense of urgency. Then
we could end up with another frantic/desperate few weeks, just as we
have already had.

You're right. Brexit hasn't happened.

Well, that would be the British way. Anything to avoid a decision
until it's absolutely necessary.

Not yet. But it will. And then you can go back to the Reich.

And then muddle through with the consequences. It's worked well for

No, it didn't! It made them lose an entire empire (we are talking the
British Empire, there never was a serbian empire, asshole Razovic).

I go back all the time. It's a one-hour flight.

And look where it's got us today: NHS in crisis, education in crisis,
food banks everywhere, 4 million children living in poverty, kids
going to school not having eaten for two days, potholes, Tory vanity
projects like third runway, HS2, and many more wonderful achievements
of muddling through. I expect you're so proud of your country.
